You will feel some uncomfortable sensations during your treatment. To ensure your comfort during the treatment, Unveil applies a local anaesthetic cream to the area being treated prior to the procedure. This step makes the experience more comfortable for you, helping to minimise any sensation at the injection site. However, it’s worth noting that each individual’s experience may vary, and some mild discomfort may be encountered. During your detailed consultation, our skilled nurse will walk you through how the treatment will feel and will discuss in depth all the associated risks. Number of Treatments and Timeline for Results
The longevity of dermal fillers typically varies between three and eighteen months and can be influenced by various factors. These might include where the fillers are placed, the type of filler used, and your body’s metabolic rate. It’s important to note that individual results can vary and the longevity of the treatment also greatly depends on the individual’s lifestyle. Downtime and Aftercare
After the administration of dermal fillers, it is not uncommon for patients to experience a few temporary effects. You will experience immediate swelling, which will reduce. Bruising may occur, and once the local anaesthetic wears off, there could be some tenderness in the treated area. Here are some aftercare tips to help expedite recovery and maintain the results of your treatment:
- Apply ice to the affected area to help reduce pain and swelling.
- Consider using LED light therapy, Hirudoid or Arnica cream to resolve any bruising.
- To manage any discomfort, Paracetamol is recommended.
- Refrain from applying makeup (including lipstick or lip gloss) for the rest of the day to reduce the risk of infection.
- Avoid touching or rubbing the treated area for a week – this means no facials, massages or pressure on the treated area.
- If you have a history of cold sores, we recommend taking Famciclovir (available at your local chemist) to reduce the likelihood of an outbreak following your treatment.
Please remember that everyone’s experience will differ slightly. It is vital that you monitor your recovery and if at any point you notice significant pain, greater than what you were expecting, white or patchy discoloration at or near the site of the injection, any changes to your vision, or any other significant concerns, please contact the treating nurse immediately.
